FutureCOL is here for the Community of Hastings, especially for the Maori and Pasifika Communities.
FutureCOL is committed to the Treaty of Waitangi and is working at embedding the three principles of the Treaty being Maori Partnership, Protection and Participation into its organisation culture.
FutureCOL self-identifies as a Maori Tertiary Institution and is focused on “Grass-roots” tertiary education that leads to Meaningful Employment or Further Higher Studies. FutureCOL has been operating in this capacity for the last 25 years. Over the last four years, FutureCOL has enrolled 746 students. 477 of these have been New Zealand students and 269 have been International students. Out of the 477 New Zealand students, 64% identified themselves as Maori and 4% as Pasifika.
FutureCOL is the only tertiary institution in Hastings (population of 73,000 and 24% are Maori) that has the capacity to offer NZQA Approved & Accredited programmes from NZQF Levels 2 to 7 in the disciplines of Cookery, Hospitality, Information Technology, Business and Foundation Studies.
